ARTICLE I. IN GENERAL
§ 9-1 CRUELTY TO ANIMALS PROHIBITED.
   It shall be unlawful for any person to drive or work when overloaded or unfit for labor, overwork, torture, torment, cruelly beat, maim, disfigure, or without just cause or excuse kill an animal, or for an owner, possessor, or person who assumes the custody or charge of an animal, to abandon it or cause the animal to be abandoned in any place without making provisions for the animal’s adequate care by providing it with sufficient food, water, shelter and medical attention to maintain the animal in a state of good health.

§ 9-2 TRANSPORTATION OF LIVE ANIMALS IN CRUEL MANNER PROHIBITED.
   No person or persons shall carry or cause to be carried in or upon any vehicle or otherwise, any live animal having the feet or legs tied together or in any other cruel or inhumane manner or without providing suitable racks, crates or cages in which such animal may stand up or lie down during transportation or while awaiting slaughter or sale.

§ 9-3 ABANDONING OF DISEASED, DISABLED AND LIKE ANIMAL; PERMITTING AGED, DISEASED AND LIKE ANIMAL TO SUFFER.
   No person or persons shall abandon any diseased, maimed, hopelessly sick, infirmed or disabled animal to die in any place, or willfully or negligently permit or allow any aged, diseased, maimed, hopelessly sick, or disabled animal to suffer unnecessary torture or pain.
