Subject to the penalty maximums set forth in § 1-7 of this code and subject to other provisions of law, persons found guilty of violating this ordinance on a subsequent occasion shall be punished by a fine or imprisonment which shall exceed any previous fine or imprisonment levied against such person for the last previous offense.
