145.03   UNIFORM ALLOWANCE; INSPECTION; HELMET RETENTION.
   (a)   The Director of Public Safety shall prescribe the uniform and fire clothing to be worn by each member of the Division of Fire. Upon appointment to the Division, each appointee shall initially receive the sum of five hundred dollars ($500.00) for a uniform and clothing allowance and, subsequently thereafter, shall be paid in cash the sum of two hundred dollars ($200.00) for uniform and clothing maintenance and an additional one hundred dollars ($100.00) upon presenting receipts for one hundred dollars ($100.00) to the Assistant Chief of Fire. Forty-hour personnel shall be paid in cash the sum of two hundred twenty-five dollars ($225.00) for uniform allowance and an additional one hundred dollars ($100.00) upon presentation of receipts for one hundred dollars ($100.00) to the Assistant Chief.
   (b)   The Director of Public Safety and the Fire Chief shall conduct a quarterly inspection of the uniform and clothing of each member of the Division. Upon inspection, if it is found that such uniform and/or clothing has not been properly maintained, or is found to be in disrepair or in any way found to be contrary to the rules and regulations set for the Division, such member shall be subject to disciplinary measures as set forth in the rules and regulations.
   (c)   Upon retirement, each member within the Division of Fire shall retain his or her fire helmet as his or her own personal property. If death should occur while still an active member of the Division, then the helmet shall be given to an immediate member of the family.
