ARTICLE VI. CUTTING, REMOVING OR TRIMMING TREES
No person, firm or corporation shall engage in the business of cutting, removing or trimming trees on private property within the City of Flint without obtaining a license as herein provided. Any person, firm or corporation making application for the license shall furnish to the City Clerk, on a form to be prescribed by him, information concerning the name and organization of the applicant, a description of the equipment and procedures employed and the nature of operations conducted. Upon receipt of such information, and the certificates of insurance required in this article, the City Clerk shall issue a license to such applicant and such license shall be shown to any person who shall do business with the licensee and who shall request same. The issuance of a license hereunder shall not obviate the necessity of obtaining such other licenses and permits as shall be required by the ordinances of the City of Flint.

Upon receipt of the application, the City Clerk shall issue a license upon the payment of a fee prescribed in Chapter 26 of this Code. All such licenses shall be for a period of one year and shall expire on April 30 next following the date of issuance, and there shall be no rebate for any lesser time.

No license shall be issued unless and until the applicant shall furnish a certificate of insurance, cancelable only upon thirty (30) days written notice to the City Clerk of the City of Flint, in accordance with the following. Said policy of insurance shall indemnify the applicant in the sum of at least twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) for property damage, one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) for injury or death to one person and three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000.00) for injury or death to more than one person in any one accident. In the event the applicant is covered by the Workers’ Compensation Law of the State of Michigan, said applicant shall furnish evidence of insurance in accordance with statutory requirements. Such policy of insurance shall indemnify the applicant for any and all liability to persons with whom he is transacting business and their property, in the above amounts, in addition to the public liability above specified. The certificate of insurance shall be approved as to form and content by the Chief Legal Officer. Upon cancellation or expiration of the required insurance, the City Clerk shall notify the licensee in writing and said licensee shall forthwith cease and desist from engaging in the business aforedescribed business.
