Spaces and areas at the airport may be restricted relative to uses or conditions hazardous to fire prevention or fire fighting, by the Director of Aeronautics, where he shall find after inspection by the City Fire Marshal that such restrictions are necessary. Restricted areas shall be posted conspicuously, and where posted for “No Smoking” or “Fire Lane — Keep Clear” or the like, all persons shall observe such restrictions.

Storage of rubbish, waste paper or other easily flammable waste matter in hangars or other structures, or within twenty (20) feet thereof, is forbidden; provided, however, that oily waste, rags, etc. may be temporarily stored in suitable fireproof containers, of metal construction with air-tight covers, approved by the City Fire Marshal. All waste, of whatever kind, shall be removed from the airport within forty-eight (48) hours.

Storage of gasoline, kerosene, ethyl and other flammable liquids, including those used in doping and finishing, shall be in compliance with regulations of the American Insurance Association and the National Fire Protection Association, copies of which are on file with the City Clerk. Empty containers originally used for these flammable liquids shall be removed without delay and not put to other use.

Aircraft maintenance in hangars shall be limited to inspections, replacement of parts and repairs not involving open flames or high heat except that electric soldering irons may be used; provided, however, such limitation shall not apply where all other aircraft and all flammable materials and substances have been removed from the hangar and a fire watch is assigned.
