ARTICLE XIX. HOTELS AND ROOMING HOUSES
For the purpose of this ordinance the following definitions shall govern:
HOTEL. A place where members of the public, whether travelers or not, are furnished, upon application, with lodging.
ROOMING HOUSE. Any building or part of a building containing furnished rooms, apartments or any tourist cabin at which transients or members of the public are furnished with lodging or lodging rooms; provided, however, that this ordinance shall not apply to a rooming house at which only roomers by the week or month are accepted.

Every person, firm or corporation engaged in the business of conducting or maintaining a hotel or rooming house shall make application to the City Clerk of the City of Flint for a license for such purpose, which application shall state the street number or location and the place where such business is to be conducted. The fee for such license shall be as specified in Chapter 26 of this Code. Such license, when issued, shall state the street number or location of the hotel or rooming house. All licenses shall expire on April 30 of each year.

In all hotels and rooming houses providing more than ten (10) beds for occupants, the licensee shall at all times have a person (who may also be the licensee) at the place of registration who shall be charged with the duty of immediately notifying the Fire Department of the City of Flint when a fire occurs therein. Any person therein who discovers such a shall immediately notify the person on duty at the place or registration. Failure to have such a person on duty or to so immediately notify as required shall be a violation of this ordinance and subject the offender to penalties hereinafter provided.
