EDITOR'S NOTE: This chapter was previously titled "Department of Public Service." The title was changed to reflect the change in the name of this Department in the City Charter adopted by the voters on November 4, 1997. References throughout these Codified Ordinances to the Department of Public Service shall be deemed to mean the Department of Service.

238.01 OFFICE OF DIRECTOR ESTABLISHED.
   The office of the Director of Public Service is hereby established in the manner and with the powers provided for such office by Ohio R.C. 735.01 et seq.

238.02 COMPLIANCE WITH DIRECTOR'S REGULATIONS AND ORDERS.
   No person shall violate or disregard any regulation or standing order of the Director of Public Service.

238.03 EMPLOYING ADDITIONAL PERSONS DURING EMERGENCIES.
   (a)   The Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to employ additional persons in any division under his jurisdiction upon notification in writing signed by the Mayor, the appropriate director and the City Auditor that an emergency exists.
   (b)   The declaration of an emergency shall be limited to such occurrences as are ordinarily classified as acts of God and shall specify the facts constituting the reasons for the existence of such emergency and the period of time during which such declaration shall remain in full force and effect.
