A. Relocation Of Utilities: The developer, builder or property owner shall, at his expense, relocate utility lines, including, but not limited to, electrical power, telephone, fiber optic, cable television, natural gas, culinary water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer and irrigation water lines lawfully existing within the public right-of-way prior to subdivision or other development of property if such relocation is made necessary by the subdivision or development.
B. Underground Utilities Required: All electrical, communications, television service cables and similar distribution service wires and cables to serve subdivisions shall be placed underground at the owner or developer's expense, regardless of whether the utilities are initially installed by the developer or are in place prior to development. The owner or developer shall be responsible for complying with the requirements of this subsection, and shall make necessary arrangements with each of the servicing utilities for installation of such facilities.
1. Aboveground Components: Transformers, terminal boxes, meter cabinets, pedestals, concealed ducts and other facilities necessarily appurtenant to such underground facilities may be placed aboveground. Water and sewer distribution facilities shall be installed in conformance with the City public improvement standards, specifications and plans manual.
2. Applicability: The provisions of this section shall not apply to wireless telecommunications antennas, high voltage power transmission lines and overhead communication long distance trunk and feeder lines. (2001 Code § 87-5-111; amd. 2009 Code)
