9-1-1: DEFINITIONS:
The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this title, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:
ASSISTANT CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER:
An assistant city administrator.
CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER:
The city administrator.
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER:
The mayor.
COUNCIL CHAIR:
See the definition in section 1-3-2 of this Code.
CRIMINAL OFFENSE:
An act committed or omitted in violation of a law forbidding or commanding it for which an adult can be punished upon conviction, by incarceration or other penalties, or corporation penalized, or for which a juvenile can be brought under the jurisdiction of a Juvenile Court and adjudicated a delinquent or transferred to an Adult Court.
DISCHARGE:
To cause a substance to enter the sewer system by any means, whether directly or indirectly.
FINANCE DEPARTMENT:
The division or department responsible for the finances of the city.
FINANCE DIRECTOR:
The Finance Director, administrative services director, or other city official in charge of the division or department responsible for the finances of the city.
INDUSTRIAL USER:
Any user of the sewer system that discharges wastewater from commercial and/or industrial processes.
RESIDENTIAL EQUIVALENT:
The quantity of sewage generated by a traditional family occupying a single-family residence with customary plumbing fixtures attached to the City sewer system. Each residential, commercial or church unit shall be deemed to be equivalent to one residential equivalent, for billing and calculation purposes, except as specifically provided otherwise. For calculation purposes, residential equivalent shall be equal to three hundred forty two (342) gallons of sewage effluent per day.
SVWRF:
The South Valley water reclamation facility.
SEWER SYSTEM:
The facilities owned or used by the City and/or the SVWRF for collecting, transmitting, treating or disposing of sewage, whether or not such facilities are located in or out of the City.
SOUTH VALLEY BOARD:
The South Valley Water Reclamation Facility Joint Administrative Board, a legal entity created pursuant to the Utah Interlocal Cooperation Act for the purpose of providing sewage treatment and final disposal services and comprised of representatives of its member entities (Midvale City, City of West Jordan, Midvalley sewer district, Sandy suburban improvement district, and South Valley sewer district).
UNIT:
A single-family residence (whether stand alone, shared wall townhome or garden condominium), a single lot in a mobile home park, a single apartment in a residential apartment building or complex (whether or not a condominium or collective), and each identifiable and separate location for a single business entity or venture (whether a stand alone building, a named or numbered location in a strip or other type of mall, or an identifiable office or suite of offices in an office building or office research park). "Unit" also includes each identifiable guestroom or guest suite existing within any other unit and intended to be occupied by someone other than the owner of the unit, including, but not limited to, hotels, motels, bed and breakfast facilities and guesthouses.
