Mayor Bragga introduced Judge Robert Wynn for the swearing in of newly elected Coucil members and the Mayor: Councilman Kenneth Fertig; Councilwoman Judy Maloney; and Mayor Laurence G. Bragga
Roll: Thompson, Ward, Baxley, Herndon, Maloney, Stasny
Also present: Anita Perrotti, Recreation Director; Martha Demshar; Bob Reitz; E. Pengel; Emily Eberlin of Gazette; Police Chief Steve Febel, Charlene Kusar, Richard Hummel, Carol Bragga, Millie Stutzman, Sally Barger, Ed Ward.
Motion by Fertig to nominate Cayce Baxley for President Pro-Tem of Council

Mayor Bragga congratulated Cayce Baxley on her appointment as President Pro-Tem.
Motion by Maloney to accept the Rules of Council Amended Ordinance 03-O-2468 for the year 2004

Motion by Stasny to approve the Mayor’s appoint for the 2004 Village of Jefferson Committees:
· Forestry: Chair – Stasny Member - Thompson
· Utilities/Wastewater/Service: Chair – Baxley Member – Maloney
· Building and Lands: Chair – Fertig Member – Baxley
· Finance: Chair – Thompson Member – Stasny
· Safety: Chair – Maloney Member – Herndon
· Recreation: Chair – Herndon Member – Fertig

Motion to accept the Mayor’s recommendation to appoint Wilma Herndon and Judy Maloney to one-year terms for the Fireman’s Dependency Board through 12/31/04

Councilperson Maloney brought up that there is an ordinance, which allows Baxley to sign checks in place of the Clerk-Treasurer and the President Pro-Tem in place of the Administrator or Mayor. Since Baxley is now President Pro-Tem, Council has to appoint someone to sign checks in the absence of the Clerk-Treasurer.
