(a) In the month of January of each year, the village will pick up Christmas trees belonging to residents of the village which are placed at the curb side. Said trees must be free of stands, trim and other objects. Trees must not be covered by or contained within plastic bags or other material. The date on which Christmas trees will be picked up will be selected by the Village Administrator and will be announced in advance and published in a local newspaper of general circulation within the village. The scheduled date for Christmas tree pickup shall also be maintained on file at the office of the Clerk.
(b) Any Christmas tree placed at the curb for pickup by the village that is rejected for any reason, or any tree placed at the curb for pickup after the scheduled date for pickup, must be removed from the tree lawn within 48 hours after having been placed at the curb.
(c) Whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor. Punishment shall be provided in § 698.02.
