§ 250.05 MUNICIPAL FIRE SAFETY INSPECTOR.
   (a)   The Mayor is hereby authorized to appoint a Municipal Fire Safety Inspector, with Council approval, and to employ said Municipal Fire Safety Inspector, on terms and conditions, and for the compensation, approved by Council.
   (b)   The qualifications of said Municipal Fire Safety Inspector shall be as follows: He or she shall have a minimum of five years active fire service; shall be knowledgeable with the operating procedures of the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department; shall possess a valid Ohio drivers license; shall be available for duties during daytime and nighttime hours as may be needed, within reason; shall use a vehicle provided by the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department; shall demonstrate an ability to clearly express himself or herself verbally and in writing; shall demonstrate a knowledge of occupationally related personal safety practices and procedures; shall demonstrate, through test or interview or both, the ability to interact with the public under conditions of code enforcement and inspection, with tact and discretion and without loss of authority; shall maintain a neat and appropriate appearance; shall have and maintain a telephone; and shall have a current certification issued under R.C. § 3303.07, evidencing his/her satisfactory completion of a fire safety inspection training program.
   (c)   The Municipal Fire Safety Inspector shall be directly responsible to the Jefferson Village Fire Chief or his or her designated officer in charge and shall perform fire inspection, prevention and fire pre-planning services. The Municipal Fire Safety Inspector shall attend Fire Department meetings as requested by the Fire Chief. The Municipal Fire Safety Inspector shall maintain records of pertinent information to enable the Fire Chief, Mayor and Council to evaluate and review his performance on a quarterly basis.
   (d)   The Municipal Fire Safety Inspector shall make inspections of facilities, buildings and appurtenances as required by, and for purposes of enforcing, the Ohio Fire Code and the BOCA Basic/National Fire Prevention Code as adopted by the Village of Jefferson pursuant to § 1610.01 of the Codified Ordinances of the Village of Jefferson, and maintain notes and permanent records of such inspections. The Municipal Fire Safety Inspector shall make inspections in the following order of priority with the highest priority listed first and the lowest priority listed last: yearly inspections, new business and industrial construction site inspections, change of use inspections, fire prevention week activities.
