Consistent with R.C. § 733.48 the Solicitor shall be an attorney at law or a law firm with attorneys that are admitted to practice in the courts of Ohio. It shall be the duty of the Solicitor to act as attorney and counsel for the village and the officers thereof in their official capacity and, as such attorney, to prosecute and defend all actions by or against the village or any department of officer thereof during the term of his or her employment. He or she shall also render formal legal opinions to Council, Members of Council, the Village Administrator or Officers of the village, upon request in writing or electronic form. All Council members shall be provided with a copy of the Solicitor's Formal Legal Opinion so requested, along with a copy of the written or electronic request of same. Upon request, the Solicitor shall render legal advice pertaining to village business to the Village Administrator, Village Officers, and Village Council members by telephonic or other means, as needed.
