§ 385.63 Storage of Finished Products Contained in Boxes, Cartons, Etc.
   (a)   The provisions of this section shall apply only to the storage of pyroxylin plastic products in packages, boxes, cartons or similar containers where such products are adequately separated and insulated by the method of packaging or by the boxes, cartons or similar containers in which they are contained, and when only limited small quantities are contained in one (1) package, box, carton or container.
   (b)   Whenever the storage space required for the storage of finished pyroxylin products in packages, boxes, cartons or similar containers exceeds three hundred fifty (350) cubic feet in one (1) fire area, such products shall be stored in a separate storage room used for pyroxylin plastic articles only. Such separate storage rooms shall conform to the applicable provisions of Section 3129.43(c), and walls, partitions, doors and other elements thereof shall have not less than the minimum fire resistance ratings specified therein.
   (c)   All separate storage rooms which exceed three hundred fifty (350) cubic feet in volume used for the storage of finished pyroxylin plastic products shall be equipped with an approved automatic sprinkler system with at least one (1) sprinkler head for each sixty-four (64) square feet of floor area or with other approved automatic fire extinguishing equipment. All such rooms, irrespective of volume, shall have approved provisions for fire venting. No such room shall exceed five hundred (500) square feet in floor area or five thousand (5,000) cubic feet in volume.
   (d)   Each storeroom in which finished pyroxylin plastic products are stored shall be provided with adequate ventilation equivalent to a clear opening of at least one-half (1/2) square inch per cubic foot of room content. Such ventilation shall be natural ventilation by means of sash glazed with thin glass and equipped for automatic opening as specified for the storage of pyroxylin products in process of manufacture, in Section 385.54(b)(7), or when approved fire-venting is otherwise provided, shall be approved mechanical ventilation.
