(a) The provisions of Sections 385.52 to 385.65 shall govern the fabrication, handling and storage of pyroxylin plastic in factories or other manufacturing plants, whether in the form of raw material, stock in process of manufacturing, unfinished or finished product or scrap, and the storage, handling and display for sale of pyroxylin products.
Such provisions shall also apply to other plastics and products of similar characteristics and of similar fire hazard.
(b) As used in the Fire Prevention and Building Codes, “pyroxylin plastic” means any plastic product, substance, material or compound, other than nitrocellulose photographic film, having soluble cotton or similar nitrocellulose as a base, including pyralin, celluloid, fiberloid, viscoloid, zylonite and similar products, materials or compounds by whatever name known, whether in the form of raw material or finished product.
(d) A permit from the Fire Chief shall be required for the fabrication, handling, storage or possession of pyroxylin plastic in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds in one (1) fire area in factories or other manufacturing plants, or in storage rooms or storage buildings, or other rooms, spaces or premises. However, no permit shall be required for the storage, handling and display for sale of limited quantities of finished pyroxylin products in stores or other mercantile establishments.
