§ 385.16 Fire and Explosion Venting
   All finishing rooms, spray rooms, drying ovens and drying rooms, in which flammable or explosive vapor may accumulate, and all dipping rooms, shall have provisions for fire and explosion venting as required in Section 3129.43(c).

§ 385.17 Supplementary Rules and Regulations
   (a)   Installations for the application of flammable finishes within finishing rooms, spray booths or rooms, and in dip tanks, and the installation and use of drying ovens and other equipment in connection with the application of flammable finishes shall conform to the applicable provisions of statutes and rules and regulations promulgated by authority of statute, to the applicable rules and regulations of the Commissioner of Air Pollution Control, the provisions of this Fire Prevention Code, and accepted safe practice. When deemed necessary the Board of Building Standards and Building Appeals may promulgate rules or regulations supplementary to this Code to further define accepted safe practice. In the absence of such supplementary rules or regulations, conformity with the requirements and recommendations of NFPA Standard No. 33 entitled “Spray Finishing Using Flammable and Combustible Liquids” and NFPA Standard No. 34 entitled “Dip Tanks Containing Flammable or Combustible Liquids” shall be accepted as conformity with accepted safe practice.
   (b)   When deemed necessary for safety to life or property the Fire Chief may require compliance with any requirement or recommendation of NFPA Standard No. 33 and 34.

LIQUIFIED PETROLEUM GASES
§ 385.18 Scope and Application of Provisions; Permits; Certificates of Qualification
   (a)   The provisions of this section and Section 385.19 shall apply to the storage and handling of liquefied petroleum gas and the design, construction, location, installation and operation of liquefied petroleum gas systems.
   (b)   As used in this Fire Prevention Code, “liquefied petroleum gas” means any material which is composed predominantly of any of the following hydrocarbons or mixtures of them: propane, propylene, butanes (normal butane or isobutane) and butylenes.
   (c)   A permit from the Fire Chief shall be required for all storing, handling or use of liquefied petroleum gas.
   (d)   No person, firm or corporation shall store or handle liquefied petroleum gas for sale or transport, or connect or install liquefied petroleum gas cylinders as a business, without a certificate of qualification from the Chief, and such certificate shall only be issued to responsible persons cognizant of the hazards inherent in such gases and skilled in the safe handling thereof. Every such certificate may be revoked by the Chief whenever he or she deems such revocation to be in the interest of public safety.

§ 385.19 Rules and Regulations
   The Board of Building Standards and Building Appeals shall formulate rules and regulations for the storage, handling and use of liquefied petroleum gases and for the design, construction, location, installation and operation of liquefied petroleum gas systems which substantially conform to the recognized standards of safety to persons and property and to the standards of design, construction and safety of the American Insurance Association and the National Fire Protection Association. Nothing contained herein shall be construed so as to permit the use or storage of liquefied petroleum gas where prohibited by the Zoning Code.
