Section BC 312: Utility and Miscellaneous Group U

312.1 General.

Buildings and structures of an accessory character and miscellaneous structures not classified in any specific occupancy shall be constructed, equipped and maintained to conform to the requirements of this code commensurate with the fire and life hazard incidental to their occupancy. Group U shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

   Carports

   Fences more than 6 feet (1829 mm) in height

   Private garages as per Section 406.1

   Retaining walls

   Sheds or greenhouses accessory to Group R-3 occupancies, that are: freestanding, less than 120 square feet (11.15 m 2 ) in area, not permanently affixed to the ground, and used for household goods or items associated with the garden or lawn. Any other shed shall be classified as either S-1 or S-2.

   Tanks

   Towers
