The Fire Department of the Village shall consist of a Chief and such number of assistants, firefighters, engineers, pipemen, truckmen and other firemen as the Board of Trustees may from time to time direct. There is hereby created and established a distinct and separate office for each firefighter provided for in the annual appropriation ordinance, each of which is to be entitled the office of "firefighter".
