All full-time officers and employees of the Village shall be entitled to thirteen paid holidays (or 104 paid holiday hours for 12-hour employees) throughout the year as follows: January 1; Presidents Day; Martin Luther King Day; Good Friday; Memorial Day; Juneteenth; July 4; First Monday in September; Veterans Day; Thanksgiving Day; December 25th; and two days to be taken as desired by the employee with the approval of the department head. No additional holiday shall be given without the approval of Council. In addition, with the approval of the Mayor and the appropriate department head, once a year in December, a full-time employee may be paid in cash for up to five (5) unused paid holidays of the thirteen (13) permitted in one year. (a) All full-time officers and employees of the Village shall be entitled to ten days’ vacation (or eighty hours for 12-hour employees) with pay after one full year from the starting date of employment and for each year of service thereafter unless such full-time officer or employee’s starting date is on or after July 1st. If said starting date is on or after July 1st, such full-time officer or employee shall be entitled to five days (or forty hours for 12-hour employees) with pay after one full year from the starting date of employment and be increased to ten days (or eighty hours for 12-hour employees) annually on January 1st of the following year. After completion of five full years of continuous employment, full-time officers and employees shall receive the following amount of vacation days/hour with pay:

Five Fifteen days (120 hours for 12-hour employees)
Ten Twenty days (160 hours for 12 hour employees)
Fifteen Twenty-five days (200 hours for 12 hour employees)
Twenty-five Thirty days (240 hours for 12 hour employees)
(b) All officers and employees shall receive credit for the continuous service previous to the effective date of this section. The time for such vacations shall be fixed by the Mayor, or in case he delegates the same, by the head of the various departments, except that entitlement to vacation time may not be carried over beyond the end of the applicable calendar year, unless otherwise approved by the Mayor.
