868.12 ISSUANCE OF DRIVER'S LICENSE; TERM; STATE CHAUFFEUR' LICENSE REQUIRED; FEE; DISPLAY; RECIPROCITY.
Upon satisfactory compliance with the requirements for the issuance of a driver's license as set forth in this chapter, and upon written recommendation of the Police Department, the City Clerk shall issue to the applicant a taxicab or motor vehicle for hire driver's license, which shall be in such form as to contain the photograph and signature of the licensee. Such driver's license shall expire at 12:00 midnight on June 30 of each calendar year. No person shall operate a public taxicab or motor vehicle for hire within the City without first obtaining a State chauffeur's license, as required by law, and a license as a driver under this chapter. No person shall permit an employee who is not so licensed to operate such a vehicle. Before the issuance of such driver's license, the applicant shall pay to the City Treasurer the fee set forth in Section 210.10(j) of the Administration Code.
Every licensed driver shall have his or her license, together with his or her photograph, conspicuously displayed on the inside of his or her taxicab or motor vehicle for hire so that it may be easily seen by an occupant of the taxicab or motor vehicle for hire.
The City shall honor, for operation on the streets of the City, a taxicab or motor vehicle for hire driver's license issued by any other City which is contiguous to the City of Wayne upon registration of such license with the City Clerk, provided that each such Municipality reciprocates in recognizing drivers licensed under this chapter by granting them the same privilege.
