5-1-1: LICENSE TAX; RABIES VACCINATION; MICROCHIP ID:
   (A)   License Tax: It shall be unlawful for any person to own or keep or harbor any dog, male or female, within the city without paying a license tax therefor as herein provided.
   (B)   Rabies Vaccination:
      1.   No owner shall own a dog older than four (4) months of age within the city without that dog having been vaccinated against rabies by or under the direct supervision of a veterinarian licensed or legally permitted to practice veterinary medicine in Idaho with a rabies vaccine currently licensed by the United States department of agriculture.
      2.   A dog more than three (3) months of age that is acquired or moved into the city must be vaccinated within thirty (30) days of purchase or arrival, unless there is documented evidence of current vaccination in another jurisdiction.
      3.   No license shall be issued for any dog unless the owner shall present to the Cascade police department at the time of payment of the license fee a certificate of a licensed or legally practicing veterinarian that the dog has been currently vaccinated for rabies.
   (C)   Microchip ID: Any owner of a dog defined as a "dangerous dog" under section 5-1-5 of this chapter shall bring such dog to a duly licensed veterinarian and shall cause a microchip ID tag (such as the Avid microchip) to be placed into the dog. Certification of this procedure, along with the microchip ID number, shall be provided to the chief of police. (Ord. 644, 3-28-2011)
5-1-2: LICENSE FEE TAX; TERM:
The annual license tax for every neutered male dog and every female dog which has been spayed shall be established by resolution and for every unneutered male dog and for every female dog not spayed, a fee will be established by resolution. No license tax shall be paid for less than one year. No license tax shall be prorated. All licenses shall expire on April 1 following the issuance thereof. (Ord. 577, 3-13-2000; amd. 5-1-3: LICENSE TAG:
The owner or person in charge of any dog, male or female, shall before April 1 of each year, pay to the treasurer the sum established by resolution for each neutered male dog and for every female dog which has been spayed and the sum established by resolution for any female dog which has not been spayed and any unneutered male dog as a license tax upon such dog. The clerk shall furnish with each receipt a metal tag which shall be stamped with the number to correspond with the number of the receipt and the fiscal year for which issued. In case a dog is brought within the city within the dog license year as herein designated, the owner or person having charge of such dog shall pay the treasurer the amount as established by resolution and in section 5-1-2 of this chapter. The clerk shall keep a suitable record of the receipts issued under the provisions of this chapter. (Ord. 579, 4-24-2000; amd. Ord. 706, 11-23-2020)
