The town authorities (Town Manager) may prohibit the operation of trucks or other commercial vehicles, or may impose limitations as to the weight, size or use thereof, on designated streets, roads or highways, which prohibitions and limitations shall be designated by appropriate signs placed on such streets, roads or highways. Suitable and convenient alternate routes shall be provided for traffic so diverted and appropriately marked.
