Sec. 6-22 Animal Waste and Disposition.
   a.   The owner of every animal shall be responsible for the removal of any excreta deposited by his animal(s) on public walks, recreation areas, or private property.
   b.   The owner of any dead animal shall remove and properly dispose of the animal within 24 hours after its death. The real property owner is responsible for the removal of any strange carcass on such real property.
   c.   Schererville Animal Control will humanely euthanize an animal(s) for a fee of $20.00, which includes disposal. This fee will be collected by the Animal Control Officer and receipted at the Town Clerk’s Office under the Donation fund. The following conditions must apply:
      1.   Animal(s) must be ill or have a severe health problem; or
      2.   Animal must be aggressive to the extent of being considered unadoptable; and
      3.   The owner must be a resident of the Town.
   d.   Animal(s) surrendered by the owner to Schererville Animal Control for adoption or disposal must meet the following criteria:
      1.   Owner shall be a resident of Schererville;
      2.   Animal(s) shall appear healthy with no visible signs of aggression;
      3.   Shelter must have available space to house the animal(s).
