Sec. 4-115 Ambulance Services - Exceptions.
   a.   It is declared the policy of the Town of Schererville, Lake County, Indiana, and its Metropolitan Fire Department Ambulance Service, that when necessary or determined that transport of a person or persons is required, such person or persons shall be transported to the following hospital care providers, namely:
      1.   Franciscan St. Margaret health in Dyer, Indiana; or
      2.   Methodist Hospital in Merrillville, Indiana; or
      3.   Franciscan Healthcare in Munster, Indiana; or
      4.   Community Hospital in Munster, Indiana; or
      5.   Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Crown Point, Indiana.
   b.   The determination as to the place of transport shall be in the sole discretion of the Town of Schererville Fire Department Ambulance Service personnel on scene responsible on-site for such matters. The following are the only exceptions to the aforementioned Town policy, namely:
      1.   In a life-threatening situation or circumstance, the responsible Town Fire Department Ambulance personnel shall have the option to direct transport to the nearest hospital.
      2.   In the event of rendering ambulance and related emergency medical services pursuant to Mutual Aid assistance, then transport may be made to any hospital.
   c.   The Indiana Trauma Rule, currently cited at 836 IAC 1-2.1, and as the same is amended hereafter from time to time, is hereby adopted as the Schererville Metropolitan Fire Department Ambulance Service Trauma Policy.
