Sec. 4-11 Registration and Licensing Required.
   a.   The provisions of this division shall apply whenever a motorized bicycle is operated in the Town of Schererville, subject to those exceptions stated herein.
   b.   Every motorized bicycle, either owned by a resident of the Town of Schererville or stored within the Town of Schererville (excepting motorized bicycles held primarily for resale in the ordinary course of business) shall be registered and licensed with the Police Department of the Town of Schererville.
   c.   Every person who owns or store a motorized bicycle within the Town of Schererville on the effective date of this ordinance or thereafter shall register and license his or her motorized bicycle within thirty (30) days following said effective date. Thereafter, every person subject to this division shall register his or her motorized bicycle and obtain a license within fifteen (15) days after becoming the owner, as defined herein, of the said motorized bicycle or commencing the storage of the said motorized bicycle. The license shall expire two (2) years following the date the license was issued. Each motorized bicycle shall be re-registered and re-licensed not less than thirty (30) days prior to the expiration of the license.

   d.   Licensing of Motorized Vehicles - Any person fifteen (15) years of age or older owning a motorized bicycle shall obtain a license for each motorized bicycle from the Schererville Police Department. No license shall be issued to, or for the benefit of any person under the age of fifteen (15) years, owning a motorized bicycle.
   The license issued for a motorized bicycle is not transferable
   Each person filing an application for registration and issuance of a license for a motorized bicycle shall pay a fee of ten dollars ($10.00) for each motorized bicycle so registered and licensed. The funds paid for said registration shall be placed in an account for the purchase or repair of equipment for the police department maintained for that purpose by the Clerk-Treasurer.
   The Schererville Police Department shall set specific times regarding the issuance of licenses and said times shall be posted at the Schererville Police Department. No licenses shall be issued at any times, but those designated by the department.
