The Town Council hereby finds it necessary to finance economic development in the Town of Schererville, and as a consequence thereof, pursuant to the provisions of I.C. § 36-7-12-4, as amended, hereby establishes a Department of Economic Development for the Town of Schererville, to be controlled by a Commission known as "The Town of Schererville Economic Development Commission". The Town Council further deems it necessary to re-establish a Department of Economic Development to be controlled by the Schererville Economic Development Commission as a consequence of its determination that it has become necessary to finance economic development to promote a substantial likelihood of creating or retaining opportunities for gainful employment and creating business opportunities, as well as for all other statutory purposes.
