Sec. 2-172 Town Recording Secretaries.
   a.   The Schererville Town Council finds it necessary to create the new position of Town Recording Secretary in order to better facilitate the timely recording and transcribing of all Town official minutes and meetings as herein described.
   b.   Town Recording Secretaries shall be hired by the Town Council and shall work exclusively under the direct guidance, supervision and direction of the Town Council and the Town Manager.
   c.   The chief duties and responsibilities of Town Recording Secretaries shall include but not be limited to the recording and transcribing of detailed and accurate minutes of all public Town meetings and hearings including:
      1.   Plan Commission meetings.
      2.   Board of Zoning Appeals meetings.
and such other official Town meetings as requested by the Town Manager.
   d.   The Town Recording Secretaries shall tape, record, and transcribe all minutes of public hearings and meetings herein described and shall then provide the Town Council a final typed copy within twenty (20) days after each of the aforesaid public hearings and meetings.
   e.   The Town Recording Secretaries shall deliver the tape or tapes in addition to the original transcript containing the recorded public hearing or meeting to the Clerk-Treasurer upon completion of said transcript. Said tape or tapes shall be kept on file for a period of no less than one (1) year by the Clerk-Treasurer. The official transcript shall be made a part of the Clerk-Treasurer's permanent records.
   f.   The Town Recording Secretaries shall have the employment status of a regular part-time employee and shall be compensated at the hourly rate as so specified in the Town's Salary Ordinance, and shall also receive all Town benefits as outlined in the Town°s Personnel Policy, set forth in Section 2-300 et seq., of this Code.
