Sec. 2-108 Overtime.
   A Schererville Police Officer may be required to work overtime, in addition to his or her established work period, as scheduled by the appropriate department personnel. Overtime work is work in addition to the established schedule of hours of work per week. Overtime shall be kept to a minimum. Overtime work may be authorized by the appropriate department personnel only when necessary. Police Officers may be compensated for authorized overtime by being granted compensatory time off at the rate of one and one-half hour for each hour worked in excess of the established and scheduled work period, or may, at the option and election of the designated department personnel, under the direction of the Chief of Police, be paid for such overtime work at the rate of one and one-half the rate of regular pay for each hour of overtime worked. Compensatory time off for an individual Schererville Police Officer will be scheduled with the approval of the authorized department supervisory personnel.
