a. Defined as those holidays officially recognized by the Town of Schererville. The Schererville Police Department recognizes the following eight (8) holidays:
1. New Year's Day - January 1st
2. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - 3rd Monday in January
3. Memorial Day - May
4. Independence Day - July 4th
5. Labor Day - 1st Monday in September
6. Veteran's Day - November 11th
7. Thanksgiving Day - 4th Thursday in November
8. Christmas Day - December 25th
b. All officers assigned to work regular business hours and not assigned to duty requiring shift work will have the option to receive the listed holidays as days off with pay or may work the holiday and use the day as an addition to their regular vacation benefit.
c. All officers assigned to work shift work, generally the Patrol Division, will earn the above-identified floating holidays (8 days) as additions to their regular vacation benefit.
