Defined as that leave utilized in the event of death or major illness in an officer's immediate family or any family emergency, which in the opinion of the Chief of Police constitutes a valid emergency or bereavement leave requirement.
a. Immediate family shall include.
1. Spouse.
2. Child.
3. Parent.
4. Brother and sister.
5. Mother-in-law.
6. Father-in-law.
7. Grandparent.
8. Grandchild.
9. Stepchild.
10. Brother-in-law.
11. Sister-in-law.
b. Emergency bereavement leave shall be generally limited to three (3) working days but may be extended at the discretion of the Chief of Police when valid circumstances require additional time.
