No person shall tent or maintain a tent, shelter or camp in any park, without a permit from the Board of Park Commissioners or its duly authorized officers.

(A) No person shall, in any park, engage in toy aviation, model boating or automobiling or airplane flying, except at places designated or maintained for those purposes.
(B) No person shall in any park or park street throw, cast, catch, kick or strike any baseball, tennis ball, football, basketball, croquet ball or other object or engage in any sport, game or competition, except in places suitable and adequate for those purposes. However, under no circumstances shall any person strike, hit or throw a golf ball in any park or park street.

All persons conducting organized picnics or outings shall obtain permits therefor previous to entering any park for those purposes.

No person shall kindle, build, maintain or use a fire except in fireplaces provided for the purpose or under special permit. Any fire shall be continuously under the care and direction of a competent person, over 21 years of age, from the time it is kindled until it is extinguished, and no fire shall be built within 10 feet of any tree or building or beneath the branches of any trees or in any underbrush.

No person or agency shall perform construction work of any kind or work incidental thereto in any park without a permit or under a contract from the Board of Park Commissioners.

No person shall expectorate on any walk, crossing, safety zone, structure, bridge, platform, stairway or floor of any building in any park or park street.

No peddler, vendor, hawker or huckster shall stop or remain on any part of the right-of-way of service roads or entrances.

(A) The parks, park property, park equipment, including fields, open spaces, skate areas, water areas, tennis courts, play areas, sports areas and sports complexes located within the geographical boundaries of the City of Hammond are City of Hammond Parks. Such facilities, while open to the public, are for priority use by Hammond residents first, and non-residents must yield use to any Hammond resident(s) if they are present.
(B) Residency will be shown, if requested by the Inspections Department or Police Department, by any form of photographic identification showing a Hammond or Whiting address.
(C) This section does not apply to events scheduled in advance with the Hammond Park Department.
