Every person engaged in the retail sale of alcoholic beverages from a liquor store, food market, or other premises located in the city pursuant to a retail package off-sale license issued by the State Department of Alcoholic Beverages in accordance with the provisions of Division 9 of the California Business and Professions Code (commencing with Section 23000) shall cause signs to be posted within such premises advising those persons patronizing the premises of the prohibitions on the consumption and possession of alcoholic beverages provided by this chapter. Such signs shall be prepared by the city and made available to the operator of such premises at the office of the city administrative services director for a fee equal to the cost of producing the sign, as established by resolution of the city council. Such signs shall be posted within such premises in a conspicuous place at or near each public exit from the premises, and, where there is an exterior window at or near a public entrance to the premises, at a place within the window which will permit the sign to be easily viewed by persons entering the premises.
