ARTICLE V: SPEED LIMITS
DIVISION A: STATE LAWS ADOPTED BY REFERENCE
§ 8.51 STATE STATUTES INCORPORATED BY REFERENCE.
   (1)   For the purpose of prescribing regulations governing speed limits, the city hereby adopts the following rules and statutes:
      (a)   M.S. § 169.14 Speed Limits, Zones; Radar, as it may be amended from time to time.
      (2)   For the purposes of this chapter, the definitions used in M.S. § 169.14, as they may be amended from time to time, are hereby adopted; however, if there is a conflict between the statutorily defined terms and the defined terms set forth in Article I, Division C herein, as specifically used in this chapter of the city code, the defined terms set forth in Article I of this chapter shall control. All statutory references in this chapter include future amendments thereto, as well as recodifications.

DIVISION B: SPEED ON CITY STREETS
§ 8.52 SPEED ON CITY STREETS.
   (1)   The City Engineer may establish speed limits for city streets under the city's jurisdiction in accordance with the provisions set forth in M.S. § 169.14. A comprehensive listing of speed limits and the procedures relied upon to establish speed limits under this section shall be kept on file by the City Engineer, and shall be available for public inspection during normal business hours.

§ 8.53 SPEED LIMITS.
   (1)   The City Engineer or designee is hereby authorized to determine and designate by proper signage the speed limit for all roadways under the city's jurisdiction.
   (2)   The speed limit on city streets shall be 25 miles per hour unless the city has put in place signage that establishes a different speed limit.
   (3)   The location and boundaries of speed limits on roadways under the city's jurisdiction shall be reflected in an official speed limit map. The speed limit map will be established and kept on file in the office of the City Engineer and shall be available for inspection by the public during normal business hours.
