A Police Reserve Corps (hereinafter referred to as "the Corps") is created and established as an organization which shall be composed of persons who shall have been appointed and sworn in as members thereof (sometimes hereinafter referred to in the singular as "member" or in the plural as "members") by the Chief of Police (hereinafter referred to as "the Chief") and trainees. For the purposes of §§ 9-4-2-1 et seq., a TRAINEE means a person who has been accepted into training to qualify to become a member of the Corps. Members and trainees shall be volunteer workers only and shall not be deemed to be employees of the city or of the Police Department for any purpose other than for the purposes of § 9-4-2-6.
