CHAPTER 20-800. THE W. THACHER LONGSTRETH MEMORIAL SURVIVORS AND DEPENDENTS MEDICAL CARE ORDINANCE 58
Notes
58 | Added, Bill No. 030339 (became law September 11, 2003). The Law Department issued an opinion dated July 3, 2003 advising that this addition to the Code exceeds Council's powers with respect to the establishment of benefits for City employees, other than for Councilmembers and their staff and certain high-ranking City officials, and that Chapter 20-800 is therefore ineffective with respect to those employees for whom Council does not have the power to establish benefits. |
(1) Eligible City Employee. An employee, officer, or official who is paid from the Treasury of the City and who is eligible for service retirement benefits under the provisions of Section 22-301 ("Service Retirement Benefits").
(2) Eligible Family Member. A spouse; a Life Partner; or a dependent, unmarried child of the employee or the employee's Life Partner, where such child is either under the age of nineteen, or under the age of twenty-three and a full-time student. 59
