Added, Bill No. 060892 (approved March 21, 2007). Section 2 of Bill No. 060892 provides: "Subsection 20-1101(1) of The Philadelphia Code, as added by Section 1 of this Ordinance, shall take effect sixty days after this Ordinance becomes law. Subsection 20-1101(2) shall take effect immediately."
§ 20-1101. Preference for Children of Police Officers and Firefighters.
   (1)   The child of a Philadelphia firefighter or police officer who was killed or who died in the line of duty shall be accorded a preference in all civil service entrance examinations to the same extent such preference is granted to veterans.
   (2)   The Civil Service Commission shall implement this Section by regulation, provided that such regulations shall define "child of a Philadelphia firefighter or police officer" to include natural and adopted children; stepchildren; and children to whom a police officer or firefighter stood in loco parentis.
§ 20-1102. Preference for Graduates of Philadelphia Career Technical Education Programs. 95
   (1)    A graduate of a Career Technical Education ("CTE") program in the School District of Philadelphia shall be accorded a preference of five (5) points in all civil service entrance examinations, provided that the preference shall not apply when application of the CTE bonus would place a CTE applicant above a veteran on the relevant eligible list.
   (2)   The graduate shall be entitled to the preference strictly during the thirty-six (36) month period immediately following graduation from the CTE program.
   (3)   The preference shall apply equally whether the applicant graduated from a CTE high school or CTE program conducted within any other high school in the School District of Philadelphia.
   (4)   The preference awarded to graduates of CTE programs under this section shall not apply to applications for positions in the Police Department or the Fire Department. Nothing in this section shall be interpreted to modify any examination preference granted to applicants to the Police Department or the Fire Department under any other law or regulation.
   (5)   The Civil Service Commission shall implement this Section by regulation, provided that such regulations shall define "graduate" as any person who graduated from a CTE program as defined by the Office of Career and Technical Education of the School District of Philadelphia.
