GENERAL PROVISIONS

§ 32.001 OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES; APPOINTMENT.

   Except as otherwise specified by statute or ordinance, each Commissioner may appoint or hire any officer or employee assigned to his or her department.

§ 32.002 RESIDENCY OF APPOINTEES.

   Only persons who reside or are employed within the city shall be appointed as members of official boards and commissions by the Mayor and City Council.

§ 32.003 TERM OF OFFICE.

   Every appointive officer or employee of the city shall hold office for a term of 1 year or until his or her successor is appointed and qualified, unless otherwise provided by ordinance. Employees selected by a Commissioner shall serve so long as their services are needed by that Commissioner. Unless otherwise provided, the term of each office shall expire on the last day of April following the appointment.

§ 32.004 ELECTED OFFICERS; INAUGURATION DATE.

   Newly elected officers of the city shall have their terms commence at the first regular or special meeting of the City Council during the month of May following their election.
