GENERAL PROVISIONS

§ 71.01 PROVISIONS APPLICABLE AT ALL TIMES OR AS POSTED.

   The provisions of this chapter prohibiting the standing or parking of a motor vehicle shall apply at all times or at those times herein specified or as indicated on official signs, except when it is necessary to stop a vehicle to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or official traffic-control device.

§ 71.02 AUTHORITY OF CITY TO CONTROL PARKING.

   The Common Council by ordinance authorizes the Board of Public Works and Safety to control parking at any time it is deemed in the public interest on any street, alley, thoroughfare, or other public place with the exception of angle parking changes on Main Street. The Common Council shall maintain the authority to any changes of angle parking on Main Street. Such parking control shall become effective upon the posting of appropriate signs indicating such parking control.
