(a) Except as otherwise expressly set forth in this section, no person shall perform any construction, installation, repair or maintenance for which a permit is required as provided in this Building and Housing Code without an appropriate permit being issued.
(b) Exemption for Minor Repairs. Notwithstanding the foregoing, no permit shall be required for minor repairs or alterations which do not involve structural changes, installation of new units or connections and which do not exceed ten thousand dollars ($10,000) as the price charged the owner. and 1426
, nor affect the fees and permits as addressed in the following portions of this chapter:
1442.13 Building permit and fire prevention plan review fees.
1442.14 Plumbing permit fees.
1442.15 Electrical permit fees.
1442.16 Mechanical permit fees.
1442.17 Boiler permit fees.
1442.18 Commercial contractor license fees.
1442.19 Canopy, marquee or street clock permits and fees.
1442.20 Sign permits and fees.
1442.21 Permits for developments subject to storm water detention regulations.
1442.22 Issuance of permits to homeowners.
1442.23 Application for building permits; plot diagrams; compliance with Zoning Code; exception for farm buildings.
1442.24 Demolition permits.
(c) Temporary Exemption for Emergency Repairs. In an emergency, when the situation demands immediate action for the protection of life or property, and the obtaining of a permit prior to the construction, installation or repair is impossible, any contractor may start such work without first obtaining a permit. However, the contractor shall make application for and obtain such permit by the Building Department's next business day.
