§ 50.023 DETERMINATION OF CONDUIT SIZE.
   (A)   The minimum conduit diameter for sewer purposes (except building sewers) shall be eight inches. Sewers up to and including 24 inches in diameter shall be designed for the above volumes of sewage with the sewer flowing half full. Sewers 27 inches in diameter shall be designed for the above volumes of sewage with the sewer flowing at 0.6 depth. Sewers 30 inches in diameter and larger shall be designed for the above volumes of sewage with the sewer flowing at l.7 depth.
   (B)   Manning's Formula with an "n" factor of 0.013 shall be used in design.
(Ord. O-38-83, passed 12-20-83) Penalty, see § 50.999
§ 50.024 DETERMINATION OF MINIMUM ALLOWABLE CONDUIT SLOPE.
   The minimum allowable slope shall be that which results in a velocity of two feet per second when the conduit flows at l/4 of full depth.

      (1)   At intersections of two or more sewers;
      (2)   At changes of size of pipe, alignment, or grade;
      (3)   At the head end of the sewer;
      (4)   At curves on sewers (beginning or end) 30 inches in diameter and larger; and
      (5)   At intermediate intervals.
   (B)   Maximum spacing shall be 400 feet.
   (C)   Manhole frames and covers shall be in accordance with the specifications and standards of the Sanitation District No. 1.

   (B)   When branch sewer connections are made to a manhole, the branch line must be connected at the bench wall level. The bench wall shall be channeled in such a manner as to direct the incoming flow to the outlet pipe.
   (C)   If the main sewer is three feet or more below the branch sewer, the branch sewer connection shall be made with a drop connection, in accordance with the Sanitation District No. 1 standards unless a specific variance is granted by the Chief Engineer.

§ 50.028 SEWER PIPE.
   (A)   For sewer slopes 15% or greater, pipe shall be ductile cast iron. For sewer slopes between 15% and 25% key blocks shall be provided at every joint.
   (B)   When it is considered advisable in the judgment of the Chief Engineer, the sewer pipe shall be laid in a concrete cradle, in accordance with the Sanitation District No. 1 standards.
   (C)   Sewer pipe in creek beds shall be encased in concrete when it is considered advisable in the judgment of the Engineer. When the cover on such pipe is two feet or less, the pipe shall be ductile cast iron, encased as noted above.
