CHARTER

CITY OF FAIRBORN, OHIO
EDITOR’S NOTE: A Charter was first adopted by the electors of the Village of Osborn at the general election held in November, 1946, effective January 1, 1948. In the November, 1948, election, the Village of Osborn voted to annex the Village of Fairfield and to change the name of the Village to Fairborn, effective January 1, 1950. The Village of Fairborn became a City on August 20, 1951. The Charter set forth below was adopted by the electorate on November 2, 1971. Dates appearing in parentheses following a section heading indicate that the section was amended or adopted on the date given. On May 3, 2011, the electorate voted to amend the Charter by making it gender neutral.

   We, the people of the City of Fairborn, Ohio, in order to obtain the benefits of local self-government, and otherwise to promote our common welfare, do adopt the following as the Charter of our City.
