The purpose of the of Professional Office District (POD) is to provide a vehicle for various professions to locate offices in appropriate locations throughout the City. The City recognizes the desirability and convenience that may be provided by allowing these offices to locate in some areas previously reserved for residential development. The application of this District provides only for professional office uses and provides adequate protection that no other commercial use may occupy a site zoned POD in future years. This District establishes minimum requirements and standards that must be followed to protect the professional office use and adjacent residential uses.

Principally permitted uses are as follows:
A. Allied Health Facilities.
B. Chiropractor Offices.
C. Dental and Medical Clinics.
D. Health Unit Office Buildings.
E. Offices.
F. Public Care Centers.
G. Research and Development Laboratories.
All businesses and services shall be conducted wholly within a completely enclosed building, except for off-street parking and loading.

Permitted accessory uses are as follows:
A. Any use customary and incidental to the permitted use.
B. Signs as regulated in Chapter 1174.
Accessory uses, other than signs and fences, shall be located in the rear yard only and located not less than six (6) feet from any lot line and covering not more than thirty-five percent (35%) of the required rear yard.

The minimum front yard setback for properties in the POD Professional Office District shall be not less than twenty (20) feet, except that any existing structure may remain in its present location, but shall not be altered or remodeled in any way to reduce the existing front yard depth.
