146.01   Department established.

   146.01  DEPARTMENT ESTABLISHED.
   A Department of Community Services is hereby established. The membership of the Department shall include a Director, and such other assistants, clerks and employees as are hereinafter provided. The Director of Community Services shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to the confirmation of Council, and shall serve for the term specified by the Mayor, as provided by the City Charter.

   146.02  DUTIES OF DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY SERVICES.
   The Director shall supervise the duties of the Department of Community Services, which shall include the planning, coordination and provision of appropriate human services for people of all ages, as Council shall hereinafter authorize. The Department of Community Services shall be dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the dignity and strength of older persons, both as individuals and groups, and shall serve and provide community services for people of all ages, as authorized by Council. The Director shall also supervise the development and operation of Senior Adult activities within the City, either by the City or jointly with other entities, and other matters related to the operation of the City's Community Services programs. The Director shall also supervise the City's parks and recreational areas, the development and operation of recreation programs within the City, either by the City or jointly with other entities, and other matters related to the operations of the City's recreational programs. The Director of Community Services shall perform such other duties consistent with the nature of his/her office as Council shall require from time to time.
