Sec. 19-86. Unauthorized devices.
(a)   It shall be unlawful for any person to place or maintain or to display upon or in view of any street, highway or roadway any sign, signal or device which:
(1)   Purports to be or is in imitation of or resembles an official traffic control sign or signal;
(2)   Attempts to direct the movement of traffic; or
(3)   Hides from view or interferes with the effectiveness of any officially placed sign, signal or device.
(b)   Any device in violation of this section is hereby declared to be a public nuisance and the chief of police is hereby ordered to remove the device or cause the device to be removed.
(c)   Violation of this section shall be an infraction and shall be punishable as provided in N.C. Gen. Stat. § 14-4.
