1-6-1: ELECTION:
The mayor shall be elected for a four (4) year term and shall serve until his successor is elected and qualified as is provided by statute. (1969 Code)
1-6-2: DUTIES: The mayor shall:
   (A)   Be the chief executive officer of the city.
   (B)   Preside over the meetings of the council.
   (C)   Perform such duties as may be required of him by statute or the provisions of this code.
   (D)   Have supervision over all of the executive officers and employees of the city.
   (E)   Have the power and authority to inspect all books and records pertaining to city affairs and kept by any officer or employee of the city at any reasonable time.
   (F)   Have general supervision of all other departments of the city.
   (G)   From time to time take such measures for the preservation of the public peace and good order and for the prompt and efficient execution of the laws of the state and the provisions of this code, as may be deemed most expedient and best to accomplish the purpose contemplated. (1969 Code)
1-6-3: APPOINTMENT OF OFFICERS:
The mayor shall appoint, by and with the advice and consent of the council, all officers of the city whose election or appointment is not otherwise provided for. Any vacancies occurring in an appointive office shall be filled in the same manner. (1969 Code)
