§ 31.56 POWERS AND DUTIES.
   The duties of the Safety Officer shall be to:
   (A)   Issue citations for violations of the following motor vehicle offenses: KRS 186.020, 186.0425, 186.050, 186.053, 186.060, 186.061, 186.070, 186.150, 186.160, 186.170, 186.180, 186.190, 186.210, 186.410, 186.412, 186.435, 186.510, 186.540, 186.610, 186.620(1), 186.660, non-moving violations of 186.990, 186.570, 189.045, 189.450, 189.459, 189.570 as it relates to pedestrians, 189.580(2), 189.636, 189.456(5), 189.751, 189.753 and 304.39-110.
   (B)   Issue citations for violation of the following city motor vehicle and traffic safety ordinances: §§ 70.09 to 70.11, 70.23, 71.03 to 71.09, 71.12, 71.02 to 71.09, 71.13, 71.14, 71.40, 71.41, 71.55, 71.66, 71.69, and to cause the towing and impoundment of vehicles as set forth in § 71.12.
   (C)   Make only such arrests as can be made by a private person as provided in KRS 431.005, but shall have no additional arrest authority.
   (D)   Monitor parking areas and issue parking tickets to illegally parked vehicles.
   (E)   Escort funeral processions.
   (F)   Respond to motorist assist calls and provide assistance to stranded motorists.
   (G)   Assist police officers in providing traffic control at accident scenes, special events, and other incidents as necessary.
   (H)   Investigate and report minor, non-injury traffic accidents, as well as any other traffic accidents, including those with resultant personal injury if, but only if, the safety officer has completed not less than 240 hours of training in accident reconstruction and has been so authorized by the Chief of Police.
   (I)   While in the process of securing information to complete accident reports, issue citations for violations of KRS 186.430, 186.450, 186.510, and 186.540.
   (J)   Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Chief of Police or his or her designee and are not in conflict with the provisions of KRS 83A.088.
