§ 97.040  LAKE USE REGULATIONS; STATE LAW ADOPTED.
   (A)   All motor boats shall be operated with no disturbing wake on the West Lake and in areas marked by buoys and signs on the East Lake.
   (B)   All operators of motorboats shall maintain a keep-to-the-right traffic pattern on all city lakes.
   (C)   All persons riding in boats or on water skis, aquaplanes, or similar contrivances, must wear an approved life jacket.
   (D)   No motorboat shall be operated at a speed creating a disturbing wake before 10:00 a.m. or after sunset.
   (E)   No swimming shall be allowed within 100 feet of any public boat launch on the city lakes, or at any other location in the city lakes designated as “no swimming” by the Water Safety Officer.
   (F)   All provisions of an act entitled Boat Registration and Safety Act, including the penalties contained therein, are hereby adopted and shall supersede any provisions of any other ordinance or regulation previously adopted by the City Council which may be in conflict therewith.
   (G)   Water skiing shall be permitted from 10:00 a.m. until sunset.
   (H)   No motorboat shall be operated on the East Lake at a speed greater than 35 miles per hour.
   (I)   All watercraft, whether motorized or not, shall be equipped with a sounding device capable of creating a blast for 2 seconds and audible for 1/2 mile.
   (J)   All watercraft shall observe and adhere to areas marked as restricted either by signs or buoys as outlined below:
      (1)   Designated no wake zones; East Lake.
         (a)   Entire portion of cove known as Moss Bayou directly north of the boat club;
         (b)   Entire portion of area known as Foley Bayou to entrance of main lake;
         (c)   From an area directly south of the beach, where the lake turns west to the west edge of the first north and south bayous; and
         (d)   At the public boat launching facility at a point north of the ramp along the same (west) shoreline, approximately 50 feet, extending each to 150 feet, then south in line with the closest point south of ramp, then west to the shoreline (approximately 60 feet of the ramp).
      (2)   Designated restricted areas; East Lake.
         (a)   At all times when there is high water and an overflow is occurring at the spillway, all watercraft shall be restricted from being at a distance of any closer than 100 feet of the entire spillway area.  This restriction shall further apply if so deemed by any authorized agent of the city or Department of Conservation whether high water exists or not; such as dam or spillway maintenance.
         (b)   All watercraft shall be restricted from being at a distance of any closer than 75 feet of the designated public swimming area as marked by the city.
         (c)   No watercraft shall be allowed under the road bridge at Route 1 at anytime.
