§ 72.33 REQUIRED SAFETY EQUIPMENT.
   The following requirements shall be construed as a necessity for safety on all bicycles:
   (A)   A brake in good working order, front and rear fenders, and a bell or small horn on the handlebars. No sirens or whistles shall be allowed.
   (B)   One (1) or more front white lights and one (1) or more rear red lights or reflectors. Each front and rear light or rear reflectors shall be clearly visible for a distance of not less than five hundred (500) feet.

§ 72.34 UNSAFE BICYCLES NOT TO BE LICENSED.
   The Chief of Police or his designee shall refuse to issue a license for any bicycle which is determined to be in an unsafe mechanical condition and which has not complied with § 72.33.

§ 72.35 LICENSE NOT ISSUED TO PERSON NOT ENTITLED TO POSSESSION OF BICYCLE.
   The Chief of Police shall not issue a license for a bicycle when he knows or has reasonable grounds to believe that the applicant for the license is not the owner of or entitled to the possession of such bicycle.

§ 72.36 REMOVAL OF LICENSE PLATE PROHIBITED; EXCEPTIONS.
   No person shall remove a license plate from a bicycle during the period for which issued, except upon a transfer of ownership or in the event the bicycle is dismantled and no longer operated upon any street in this city.

§ 72.37 RECORDS TO BE KEPT.
   The Chief of Police shall keep a record of the number of each license issued pursuant to this subchapter, the date issued, the name and address of the person to whom issued, the number on the frame of the bicycle for which issued and all bicycle license fees collected by him.

§ 72.38 SERIAL NUMBER ON BICYCLE TO BE LEGIBLE.
   No person shall have in his possession or ride a bicycle when the serial number cannot be distinguished or when the bicycle has no serial number.

§ 72.39 MAINTENANCE OF SAFETY EQUIPMENT.
   Each bicycle licensed pursuant to this subchapter shall be maintained by the owner in such a manner that the safety equipment required by this chapter shall at all times be operational.
