A. Board Of Appeals: Wherever, in the building code, existing building code, residential code for one- and two-family dwellings, mechanical code, fuel gas code, electrical code, fire code, property maintenance code, wildland-urban interface code, energy conservation code, plumbing code, and swimming pool and spa code, reference is made to the "board of appeals", such reference refers to a five (5) member board of appeals appointed by the president, with the approval of the village board of trustees, as provided in section 10-1B-1 of this chapter. All appeals from orders of all building code inspectors shall be to the board of appeals previously referred to and shall be taken in accordance with the procedures set forth in article B of this chapter.
B. Building Official, Building Inspector And Housing Officer: The terms "building official", "building inspector", and "housing officer", when used in this title, are names that may be used interchangeably in this title, and all refer to the office of building inspector appointed by the president, with the advice and consent of the board of trustees.
C. Code Official: The words "code official", when used in connection with article B of this chapter and chapters 2, 6 and 8 of this title, shall refer to the "building official", "building inspector", or "housing officer", as those terms are defined in subsection B of this section. When the words "code official" are used in connection with chapter 3 of this title, they shall refer to the electrical inspector. When the words "code official" are used in connection with chapter 4 of this title, they shall refer to the mechanical inspector. When the words "code official" are used in chapter 5 of this title, they shall refer to the plumbing inspector.
D. Contractor: The term "contractor", as used in this title, means any person, firm or corporation engaged in the construction, remodeling, razing, or moving of any building or structure, or any portion thereof, or in the excavation, grading or filling of any land.
