It shall be the duty of each owner of property in the city, after the receipt of the notice provided for in section 14-72, to repair, at his own expense, all holes, uneven surfaces, and other defects in the sidewalk on which his property abuts, as specified in the notice, using therefor materials as nearly similar as possible to that of which the sidewalk is constructed. If such owner is a nonresident of the city, or cannot be found, it shall be the duty of his agent in charge of the property upon receipt of such notice, to make the repairs as required in this section, and if there be no such agent, it shall be the duty of the occupant of the property, upon receipt of such notice, to make such repairs as are required in this section.
